The dossier

Appearance: Uncle Rob is the go-to Toe Monster for building, fixing, and inventing just about anything. He’s Big Rich’s brother—slightly smaller, but just as solidly built.

His fur is deep blue with rough white patches, often dusted with soot and metal filings. He’s almost always seen wearing a heavy welding mask, either pushed up on his head or down over his face, giving him a slightly intimidating, mysterious look.

Slung over his shoulder is his prized creation—a massive custom-built welding hammer/multi-tool, capable of cutting, shaping, and smashing just about anything.

Personality: Uncle Rob is a true recluse. He’s not one for small talk, and if you try it, you’ll probably just get a grunt in response. But if he likes you—or if you ask about something he’s building—he’ll happily talk for hours.

Unlike some Toe Monsters, he’s not particularly interested in eating children… unless they annoy him or interfere with his work.

When he’s in a rare good mood, he might mutter his favourite line:

“If it’s broken… I’ll fix it. If it’s not broken… I’ll improve it.”

When he’s not in his workshop, he enjoys quiet fishing trips at nearby Chew Lake. He also has a soft spot for unusual creatures and keeps a collection of strange and mysterious pets.

Cave Life: Uncle Rob’s cave is more workshop than home—a full fabrication lab carved deep into the rock.

Inside you’ll find:

  • Welding gear with sparks constantly flying

  • Heavy lathes and metalworking machines

  • Half-built inventions scattered everywhere

  • Fishing rods leaning in corners

  • Reinforced cages housing his “pets”

Uncle Rob even names all his machines—favourites include Old Sparks (his welding rig) and Grinderella (a particularly noisy grinder).

No one is quite sure what all his machines do… not even Uncle Rob sometimes.

Fun Fact: Whenever there are rumours of aliens or supernatural sightings, Uncle Rob is the first to investigate. He’ll grab his gear, disappear for days, and return with something new in a cage…

Some say one of his pets is a small, furry creature he brought back from Roswell.

Others say one of his creatures escaped once… and is still causing chaos somewhere in the caves 👀

Warning: Uncle Rob’s cave lies deep within the hidden parts of Cheddar Gorge—far beyond where most would dare to go.

He prefers it that way.

If you somehow manage to find him, don’t expect a warm welcome…

No child has ever found his cave and lived to tell the tale.

Habitat survey

Inside Uncle Rob’s cave

Somewhere in Cheddar Gorge — the exact spot is a secret, and the cave has an inconvenient habit of not being where it was — is where Uncle Rob lives. The survey photograph below was taken quickly, and the surveyor did not stay for tea.
