The dossier

Personality: Professor Spin is the trickiest of the Toe Monsters. Beware of his sneaky nature! He’s been known to pretend to be kind, even dressing up as a doctor to trick unsuspecting youngsters. His cunning nature and quick wit make him a formidable foe, especially when he’s on the lookout for toes.

Favourite Gadget: Among his many contraptions, Professor Spin’s favourite is Bertie, a robotic lawnmower. Bertie roams the countryside with a singular purpose: to find and lop off toes. Equipped with advanced sensors and a razor-sharp blade, Bertie is both impressive and terrifying. Children, keep your toes safe!

Cave Life: Professor Spin’s cave is a chaotic workshop, filled with all manner of gadgets and experiments. Sparks fly, gears turn, and the air is thick with the smell of chemicals and invention. Despite the clutter, there’s a method to his madness, with every tool and gizmo serving a specific purpose in his elaborate schemes.

Fun Fact: Despite his sneaky and sometimes sinister ways, Professor Spin is a genius inventor. He takes great pride in his creations, particularly Bertie. When he’s not plotting his next trap, he’s often found scribbling down blueprints for new devices or tinkering with his latest invention.

Warning: Children, be vigilant! Professor Spin may appear friendly, especially when disguised as a doctor, but his true intentions are always mischievous. If you see a sparkly green Toe Monster with glasses, it’s best to keep your distance and your toes firmly inside your shoes.

Habitat survey

Inside Prof Spin’s cave

Somewhere in Cheddar Gorge — the exact spot is a secret, and the cave has an inconvenient habit of not being where it was — is where Prof Spin lives. The survey photograph below was taken quickly, and the surveyor did not stay for tea.
